Dust

May we be covered in the dust of our Lord.

What does this prayer/verse mean to you?

This Sunday was the third Sunday our churches new preacher preached.  Let me just say he has me shaking my head and wanted to yell out a “amen” like our dear friend Maria.

He stated that at some point in our lives we want to be the best of the best at something.  I would have to agree with him that most people have this desire or wish.  Well he went on to say even if no one on Earth sees you as the best of the best you are the best of the best in the eyes of God.  He touched on three things that will help us be the best of the best.

  • We need to yoke or attach ourselves with God so that our closeness with him will help us live a life with Him.

Matthew 11:28-30 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you.  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.

  • We need to not be like the scribes who want to know the words and memorize his teachings.  We need to live out the scripture and not just recite them.

A verse in Mark I think or Luke (Can you tell I was still absorbing the first verse he taught on)

  • We need to have the faith to follow and be chosen to walk with Christ and not require an explanation.  We need to pray for this faith daily.

John 1:38-39a Jesus looked around and saw them following. :What do you want? he asked them.  They replied “Rabbi, where are you staying?” “Come and see,” he said.

Now back to the verse in red which was part of a Hebrew blessing. If you follow closely with Christ and live a life with Him you will have the dust he kicks up as he walks upon you.  Don’t you want his dust upon you because you are walking so closely with Him.  A goal me and most of my fellow Christians hope to attain.

*Blessings LRW*
